Alonso Jordan's Great Opportunity

I am excited to announce that I have been admitted into the Apprentice Program at Miami Music Festival (MMF)!

The mission of the Miami Music Festival is to provide affordable, world-class musical instruction
and ground-breaking performance experiences to young artists and the South Florida region.

I will be attending during their second session, in the month of July. I have accepted the role of Léon in "The Ghosts of Versailles" by John Corigliano!

 I cannot express how fantastic this opportunity is for me, as an opera performance graduate student at Oklahoma City University who is about to finish their first year.

Miami Music Festival is the kind of opera program that provides a professional, "real world" experience. This program has the reputation for being a stepping stone to paid apprenticeships.

The experience I will gain from this program will allow me to continue to build my professional network and grow as a stage performer and artist. This experience is not just limited to the rehearsals and role that I will perform. I will have the opportunity to take voice lessons, sing in masterclasses and gain additional experience in a concert setting. I will be challenged to become my own advocate and use all of my learned skills and abilities to grow as a person and artist. This is yet another test in my journey to having a career as a professional classical/opera singer.

The amount I am fundraising will cover the entire program tuition and registration costs, room and board and travel costs.

Here is a breakdown of the funds:

Tuition and Registration: $3750.00

Roundtrip airfare from Oklahoma City to Miami, FL: $600.00

Room and Board: $2000.00

Ancillary/emergency funds: $650.00

These are important deadlines I need to consider:

3/12/2018: $750- to reserve my spot in the program

4/1/2018: $1500- first installment

4/15/2018: $2000 - housing and meal plan

5/1/2018- $1500 second installement

5/15/2018- $600 - I would like to try get my airfare scheduled by this date at the latest to get the best rate...the earlier the better!

My journey in singing has been a long one. I have actually been lucky to have had the financial means for previous programs that I have done. However, at this point in the journey, graduate school has depleted my financial resources in a way that opportunities like this one would only be possible with help from YOU.
