Ally's Japan Trip

My name is Allison Milby. I am the Boy Scouts of America Sam Houston Area Council Venturing President in Houston Texas. I will be the first female to attend the Houston - Chiba Scout exchange program, to Japan. This program assimilates scouts from different countries into the Japanese family and culture The 14 scouts from Houston will be there for 10 days this summer. We will learn about Scouting in and around Japan. This winter, the Japanese scouts will come to Houston and learn about Scouting in the US. It is an opportunity of a lifetime. The trip has been an exchange program between the sister cities for over 30 years. We will be with a Japanese family for a few days and then end the trip by camping at the base of Mt Fuji at their Jamboree! The leaders of the trip have researched all the details and expenses down to the last penny to make sure we are getting the best prices.
I need these funds to pay my expenses for the trip. My family cannot afford this because my mom has been laid off and has a severe autoimmune connective tissue disease that does not allow her to work in the type of healthcare environment that she did in the past. She has been injured as a result of this disease and was not able to walk without crutches and braces for over a year. She is working on her disability but it hasn't been approved yet. We have many medical bills due to her disability. I am going to college in August and the money we have saved will be used to help partially fund my tuition. My father is working but the oil/gas industry is struggling right now and he is the last employee left. My brother is working and going to college part-time to help support the family.
My family has been very involved in Scouting for close to 20 years. We believe in the program because it helps build our future leaders and allows youth to grow and develop in character. I would love to have this opportunity to learn more about the Scouting program in Japan. I believe in the Scouting values and they have led me to be the Servant leader I am today.
Any donation is a blessing and I would say that if you can give you will help me bring a piece of America to Japan and I will serve you proudly! I am involved in many service organizations through school,Scouting and church and will always give selfless service. You can be assured that your donation to this trip will be a priceless gift of your selfless service through my actions and deeds. We are scheduled to leave in mid July so I only have about 3-4 weeks to raise this money. Please find it in your heart to support my endeavor and I will be eternally grateful.
