We are Fer, David and our daughter, Ana Camila, a family that started 8 years ago. During our years together, we have been fortunate to receive many blessings, but have also lived through many difficult experiences.

An example of this is Ana Camila herself. Our daughter was our first blessing, since it was practically impossible for her to be born naturally.

However, in 2016 the miracle took place and she was born prematurely at 6 months of gestation, due to a lysteria infection in Fer's brain. This situation, although difficult, strengthened us and united the 3 of us, because although we had to spend a few months in the hospital as both required intensive care, they managed to get ahead without any repercussions.

A year later, in 2017, Fer suffered a heart attack and a stroke, which resulted in difficulties with motor coordination and incontinence issues. However, thanks to her determination to be well for Ana Camila, she managed to recover practically 100% of her mobility.

From then until the beginning of 2022, everything had remained calm and in control; however, from May to date we have had to learn to be strong and always stay united as a family through love.

It all started in May, when Fer undertook some routine studies and our doctors detected that she had anaemia. She needed to be treated in the hospital in order to make the follow-up more efficient and thus began treatment immediately.

Unfortunately, in less than 24 hours the whole situation changed because they had to admit her to the emergency operating room to perform a catheterization to be able to uncover the anterior coronary artery since she was experiencing another heart attack. This hospitalization in May 2022 required Fer to be in the hospital for two weeks in the intensive care unit. During this time, we had to be apart for special occasions, such as Ana Camila's birthday and Mother's Day.

After Fer was released from intensive care, we hoped that she could continue her recovery process calmly at home. What was not foreseen was that within two weeks of leaving the hospital, Fer had an acute gallbladder crisis that required an ambulance and paramedics to return her to emergency.

Once in the hospital, the studies showed that Fer had a non-functional gallbladder that had to be removed. However, due to complications caused by the recent heart attack, doctors were only able to try to control the situation and the pain by using analgesics and by prescribing a highly restricted diet to avoid another surgery.

Once Fer was at home again, not even two weeks had passed when yet another event occurred. One morning, David woke up because Fer was feeling like she was suffocating, after a few minutes the situation had worsened... out of nowhere she started coughing up blood and they had to return to intensive care. The diagnosis was a pulmonary hemorrhage. This new period of hospitalisation would keep the family separated for the third time in less than two months.

Towards the end of July we were able to return home, we had to follow a strict diet and after a week and a half, Fer felt a pain in her leg that shortly after spread to her hip. With medications at home the pain could not be controlled, therefore the doctors requested more studies to be able to give a diagnosis. After waiting a week for the results, we received the diagnosis of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in the hip.

The reality is that after several hospital processes, on this occasion we feel calm, with hope and with the certainty that this will be another obstacle along the way and we will continue walking with strength arm in arm. But the reality after all the hospital processes already experienced, it is difficult to recover financially to be able to cover what is coming. Therefore, we ask for your help knowing that it will make a huge difference in this whole process.

The only way we as a family have managed to endure the past 5 months is by holding on to the love we have for each other. Without that we couldn't get by.

Somos Fer, David y Ana Camila, una familia que se formó hace 8 años y que a lo largo de nuestra historia juntos hemos tenido la fortuna de recibir muchas bendiciones y también de vivir muchas experiencias difíciles.

Ejemplo de esto, es la misma Ana Camila. Nuestra hija fue nuestra primer bendición, ya que era prácticamente imposible que se diera la oportunidad de una manera natural. Sin embargo, en 2016 el milagro se realizó y logró nacer de manera prematura a los 6 meses de gestación, derivado de una infección de lysteria que se alojó en el cerebro de Fer. Esta situación aunque difícil nos fortaleció y unió a los 3, pues aunque tuvimos que estar algunos meses en el hospital pues ambas requirieron de cuidados intensivos lograron salir adelante sin ninguna repercusión.

Un año después, 2017, Fer sufrió un infarto cardíaco y cerebral, teniendo algunas consecuencias y efectos cómo dificultades con la coordinación motriz y temas de incontinencia. Sin embargo, gracias a sus ganas por querer estar bien para Ana Camila logró recuperar prácticamente al 100% su movilidad.

Desde entonces y hasta inicios de 2022, todo se había mantenido calmado y en control; sin embargo, de mayo a la fecha hemos tenido que aprender a ser fuertes y a mantenernos siempre unidos como familia mediante el amor.

Todo inicio en mayo, cuando en unos estudios de rutina de Fer nuestros médicos detectaron que había anemia y que requería ser tratada en el hospital con el fin de hacer más eficiente el seguimiento y así comenzar de inmediato un tratamiento.

Desafortunadamente, en menos de 24 horas toda la situación cambió pues debieron ingresarla a quirófano de urgencia para poder realizar un cateterismo y así poder destapar la arteria coronaria anterior ya que estaba viviendo un nuevo infarto al corazón. Este internamiento en mayo 2022, requirió que Fer estuviera en el hospital por dos semanas en el área de terapia intensiva en el área de coronarias; durante este tiempo fue el cumpleaños de Ana Camila y el día de las madres, situaciones que como familia debimos celebrar separados.

Posterior a eso, siguió el proceso de recuperación que se esperaba se pudiera llevar de manera tranquila en casa. Lo que no se tenía previsto era que antes de que se cumplieran dos semanas de haber salido del hospital, Fer tuvo una crisis aguda de la vesícula que requirió del apoyo de una ambulancia y de los paramédicos para lograr regresar de emergencia a urgencias. Ya en el hospital, lo que los estudios mostraban era una vesícula no funcional que debía ser extirpada, sin embargo lo que los médicos hicieron debido a la cercanía con el evento cardíaco, fue evitar llevar a cabo la cirugía y por el contrario tratar únicamente de controlar la situación y el dolor haciendo uso únicamente de analgésicos y mediante la adecuación de una alimentación sumamente restringida.

Ya en casa de nueva cuenta, no habían pasado ni dos semanas… cuándo un nuevo evento se presentó luego de haber salido de alta. Una madrugada, David se despertó pues Fer estaba sintiendo que se ahogaba, luego de unos minutos el cuadro había empeorado… de la nada comenzó a toser sangre y por lo tanto tuvieron que regresar a terapia intensiva, ahora la situación era una hemorragia pulmonar. Este nuevo internamiento mantendría separada a la familia por tercera ocasión en menos de dos meses.

Hacia finales de julio pudimos regresar a casa, debíamos seguir un estricto control de alimentación y a la semana y media apareció un dolor en la pierna que poco tiempo después se alojó en la cadera. Con medicamentos en casa el dolor no se podía controlar, por lo tanto los médicos pidieron más estudios para poder dar un diagnóstico, y tocó esperar los resultados por una semana, el cual al final fue Linfoma no Hodgkin en la cadera.

La realidad es que luego de varios procesos hospitalarios vividos, en esta ocasión nos sentimos tranquilos, con esperanza y con la seguridad de que será otro obstáculo en el camino y seguiremos caminando con fortaleza y “agarrados de la mano”. Pero es una realidad que ante todos los procesos hospitalarios ya vividos, es difícil recuperarse rápidamente y así poder solventar lo que viene. Por lo cual nos atrevemos a solicitar tu ayuda sabiendo que será la diferencia en todo este proceso.

El proceso familiar que hemos aprendido a vivir en los últimos 5 meses se resume en un profundo amor. Sin eso no podríamos salir adelante.
