Allison's Journey for Hopeful Cure

Donation protected
There are times when life will test your limits, and there are times when you discover your limits don't exist. As for Allison, her journey is one of perseverance and strength. She is the mother of the man I love and the victim to stage 2b breast cancer. Those of you who know her understand that she is genuinely the most whole-hearted, selfless, conscientious of people that you'll ever know.

Long before the diagnosis, her journey had begun with an incredible weight loss transformation. Within the span of six months, she managed to lose 65lbs. During this time, she was faced with witnessing a near death car accident. A woman suffering from a heart attack had nearly crashed into a group of people in an outdoor fitness class, had it not been for the warning sounds of Allison's car horn they would've been run over. As a Clinical Nurse Supervisor, she immediately assessed the driver's condition and proceeded to perform CPR until emergency services arrived. Not only did she save the life of the driver, but the lives of those who were at risk of losing theirs. This act of compassion compelled her manager, along with a fellow coworker at the Seton Northwest Hospital to nominate her for the Daisy Award and the Seton Humancare Award. In addition to being nominated for the two awards, she was promoted from Clinical Nurse Supervisor to Department Supervisor for Perianesthesia/Endoscopy. Yet aside from her career, she had allotted herself time to study and achieve her bachelors of science in nursing. If you ask me, she's the real wonder woman.

Despite her tremendous acheivements beyond her career, life brought her to the next chapter.  Indications of cancer suddenly arose on August 22nd, and by the 29th she underwent a biopsy to investigate. On September 1st,  the unexpected news arrived and she was officially diagnosed with stage 2b breast cancer with lymph node involvement. I remember the phone call from her eldest son to her youngest, my boyfriend, and the pain I saw in his eyes. Heartbroken, I held him closely feeling more helpless than I ever have in my life. Writing this now brings tears to my eyes but it pleases me to know that by doing this, I can help her in a way that will be effective. As of four days ago, she began her chemotherapy treatment that will last for five months. Following chemo, she'll undergo surgery with six weeks of radiation and then complete the treatment with reconstructive surgery. Anyone that has a job knows that this will require much of her time away from work and will become a huge financial burden. Given that her husband has been unemployed for a year and a half, she has become the sole provider for her family, herself, and the substantial medical expenses soon to come. It can be expected that her weekly schedule of 40 hours of week will begin to decline as treatment continues and with one son in college, it is critical that she recieves all the help she can get.

We appreciate the time you've taken to read this and we will be more than grateful for any and all donations. Please share this with your friends or family, and we'll keep you updated with her progress. Feel free to send her love and encouragement too, any support is appreciated. No one should have to face this alone but with your help her journey will be a hopeful one.
