Allie’s eSight Fund

Allie is a 6 year old little girl who is legally blind. Allie is a total girlie girl and loves anything Disney and Princess, she loves to sing, dance and play dress-up! Allie was diagnosed with Septo Optic Dysplasia at 5 months old. Septo-optic dysplasia (SOD),is a rare congenital malformation syndrome featuring underdevelopment of the optic nerve, pituitary gland dysfunction, and absence of the septum pellucidum (a midline part of the brain). Allie was recently able to try eSight glasses and we are hoping to raise money to assist in purchasing Allie her very own pair! eSight is an amazing technological breakthrough – electronic glasses that let the legally blind actually see. These glasses are currently $10,000 and are not covered by insurance. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and we would appreciate any support we can get!!!A little background on Allie....Allie was born in April of 2011 and unfortunately had a bit of a rough start. At 3 months old, Allie was removed from her home and was placed in foster care. One day after entering in care I received that phone call that changed our lives forever. With very little info I decided to give this little girl the chance she so deserved. This beautiful little angel was so tiny and fragile. I knew immediately something was wrong with her eyes. She wasn’t able to track, made absolute no eye contact and didn’t respond to light. Shortly thereafter I found out that not only was Allie legally blind but she also had a life threatening medical condition. With the SOD diagnosis came Panhypopituitarism which means Allie’s body is unable to produce hormones. She is deficient on her growth hormone, thyroid and Cortisol which is the most important hormone and is essential for living. She is currently on multiple hormone replacements to keep her body functioning properly. She also has epilepsy and is on daily medications to keep seizure activity under control. Allie had countless specialist appointments, Developmental Therapy, PT, OT and Vision Therapy. I was determined regardless of the situation I would do anything in my power to make sure Allie had every opportunity that was available to her. It was amazing to see how all the the hours of therapy were benefiting Allie. She learned in vision therapy that she actually did have some vision and she was taught to use the vision she had. After 2 years of fostering Allie, it finally became official! In July 2013, I was able to adopt Allie! We were finally given the best gift, she received the mommy she deserved and I received the most amazing daughter that I had been waiting for for so long! I am hoping now that I am able to give her another incredible gift of eSight. Allie continues to grow and develop with the help of our amazing support system. We are blessed to have some of the best doctors, therapists, teachers, family and friends in our corner. Allie is doing remarkably well but if she was given the opportunity to get her own eSight glasses, I know she would blossom even more. Some things can be very difficult for her and I’m hoping that this will make her life just a little bit easier. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read her story. We appreciate any prayers and donations.Love Rachel and Allie
