Allies of our Afghan Allies

Donation protected
Allies of our Afghan Allies (AAA) offers a little assistance to get Afghan refugees on the road to a better future. AAA is a cooperative initiative of public (local government), private, and non-profit (including faith communities) volunteers on Cape Ann.

After fleeing their country under duress with little more than the clothing on their backs, Afghan families will be resettling in Gloucester, MA. These families will be starting with nothing. The lead time is short to find housing and get them necessities. The Cape Ann community is up to this challenge.

The Afghan refugees are temporarily living on U.S. military bases waiting for processing and clearance. When they leave the bases, they will face a tight housing market. The national median rent rose to $1,302 in September, up 15% from a year ago. Funds are needed to cover housing costs (rent, utilities, and furnishings), education, employment training, clothing, food, medical care, transportation, and legal fees (for family reunification).

Our goal is to raise $50,000. This is what will be needed to assist these families until they become independent. All donations will be used to meet the refugees’ needs and are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowable by the Internal Revenue Service. The West Gloucester Trinitarian Congregational Church, UCC, is serving as the fiscal agent and will not benefit from the AAA funds raised.

In addition to your financial support, you can help, by SHARING THIS CAMPAIGN!

Thank you for your support of our Afghan allies.
