Hi Family and Friends,
I am pleased to announce that I have been nominated to study abroad with CIEE – Spelman Intercultural Engagement Program in Barcelona, Spain in May 2018 for two weeks. This is exciting news!
CIEE, the world leader in international education and exchange for 65 years, offers students the most comprehensive, relevant, and valuable study abroad programs available. They are dedicated to excellence in liberal arts and sciences and are a global leader in the education of women of African descent, Spelman College.
Please understand there are many reasons and values for participating in this program. I will develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding to communicate and engage across cultures as I take daily courses to become a more effective leader in today’s globalizing world. I’ll learn about socioeconomic, political, and cultural issues used in a variety of situations. I will also expand my vision for engaging in an intercultural world.
I am making an important decision that will enhance my strengths, leadership skills, and contribution to the world as I continue my study of Economics and share my program experiences with the students and teachers at Spelman College. I’d also help and encourage my fellow classmates in their study of Economics.
My parents and I are working hard at making this trip possible for me, but we will need some assistance in doing so. CIEE – Spelman awards some financial support; however, it is my responsibility to raise additional funds to cover the gap (domestic airfare, spending money, etc). My goal is to raise $2500.00. Will you be willing to sponsor me to help pay for the required additional cost to participate in the program? If so, I’d be grateful and sure to make the most of the experience abroad. Any amount is more than welcome as I am very thankful to be one of the students selected to study abroad. In order to retain my partial scholarship, please make donations on/or before November 30, 2017.
