All City Art Club: A Collaborative Art Project Focusing on Improvement of the Community

Richmond, VA is a beautiful city. Affectionately known as The River City, Richmond is home to the prestigious Virginia Commonwealth University, a vibrant arts & music culture, and is quickly becoming one of the biggest food cities in America. It's a city of diversity, culture & many socioeconomic backgrounds.

While the RVA Mural Project and RVA Street Art Festival have contributed greatly to tourism, the local economy and giving the city an identity, not all of the city has felt that impact. All City Art Club plans to focus on areas that are suffering from poverty and urban decay. Through the creation of public art, we seek to enhance the presence of these underserved communities while also enhancing the people’s personal mindset about the community they live in.

We seek to fill in the gaps; to encourage creativity, ingenuity and expose a bright underbelly to areas and residents that have experienced hardship that may not have a bright outlook on their future because they’ve been forgotten. The project will also give the talented artists & creators from those communities a chance to display their gifts through murals &street art.

Murals build a sense of community. They're the best of both worlds: jaw-dropping artistic talent from men and women who’ve in many cases honed their craft for decades, and partnerships between them and local property owners that will outlast the very art they’re creating.

All City Art Club currently has one mural located in Richmond’s Southside at Seafarm Seafood. During the creation of this mural many of the area’s residents have stopped by to thank us for creating something so beautiful in an area that has been labeled as “ghetto”. There has been much positive feedback as well as artists and aspiring artists as young as 13 willing to join All City Art Club to make their section of the community as colorful as their neighbor’s.

How You Can Help

100% of the proceeds collected from this GoFundMe campaign will directly fund the lifts, equipment and all the materials needed to produce the murals. Cost per mural is estimated at:

Supplies: $1000
Equipment: $500

We are hoping to begin our first project in August 2017.

We greatly appreciate your interest and help with this project and look forward to celebrating the talent and diversity of our community with you.
