BSA TROOP 349 BUXTON MAINE
My name is Sawyer Rose, I am currently a life scout from Troop 349 in Buxton. I am planning my Eagle Scout project in the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Last year on a trip to the AWW I realized that there were not enough camping sites along the waterway. With so many people enjoying the great north Maine woods it’s time to add a site. Working with AWW rangers a plan was developed and approved. With your help I am asking for support for camping fees, road fees, and supplies that will be needed to complete my Eagle project. We will be traveling to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway and canoeing to Long Lake where we will be building a new public campsite. This will include clearing out the site, digging a hole and building an outhouse, putting a water pump to provide potable drinking water as well as building picnic tables with a ridge beam for shelter cover and a stone fire pit. My role in this project is to coordinate with park rangers, apply for permits, as well as plan all logistics and preparation needed for a safe and successful. Once the project starts I will direct and help with the building process as well as handle our safety gear and ensure that it is used correctly. My project will start July 31st and go through August 8th when the site will be available for decades of happy safe camping in the great Maine woods.
