Hi Folks
Myself fergus and Mario are setting off soon on the London to Brighton off road cycle ride over 75miles to help to raise more funds towards the following specialist life-changing equipment and other essentials, such as Oxygen Therapy, for our beautiful daughter, Gracie, we are hoping that you wonderful folks will extend the hand of generosity once again.
Gracie was diagnosed with Right Hemiplegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy along with epilepsy which means that she is susceptible to unpredictable seizures that at times can be potentially life-threatening. Gracie is making slow but progressive steps in her personal development through her own sheer determination but with obvious challenges and she needs constant care and support 24/7.
To help us, as Gracie’s parents, to become more alert in the event of her seizures whilst sleeping during the night, would be a special epilepsy monitor affixed to Gracie’s bed that alerts and wakes us immediately when she is having a seizure would be hugely beneficial. Vital minutes can be lost when Gracie is not attended to quickly at the first stage of a seizure that could potentially become life-changing or even life-threatening.
Another option we are considering is a ‘Seizure Alert Dog’ animal that senses when an epilepsy seizure is imminent to help the family become alert so that we can put safety and protective practices in place to ensure that Gracie does not come to harm during the event of the seizure before we call the emergency services when needed.
Whilst we cannot prevent the seizures from occurring, any funds towards vital equipment such as the bed monitor will go a very long way to ensuring that Gracie lives her life as comfortably and safely as possible and continues to be the happy contented child that she is, despite her health and disability challenges.
From the bottom of our hearts we sincerely hope that we can work together to make Gracie’s life as challenge-free as possible.
