APPEAL FOR DONATION
The chairperson and the following people Professor Abdoulaye Saine USA, Mr Maila Touray USA, Mr Sir Jackal Germany, Miss Binta Leigh UK, Ms Pellet Mu Ndow Correa Germany, Dr Barra Touray UK, Honourable Kebba Gaye, Mod Jarie Ceesay Italy, UK, Rtd. RSM Baboucarr Jeng UK, Mr Ousman Sowe, Mr Siddi Jammeh Sweden, Baba Nyass USA, and Mr Matarr Sallah Norway of the Task-force for Better Gambia has the honour to inform you of current developments in the country being undertaken for the formation and registration of a new political party in The Gambia which will be launched later in 2019. The political party will be called All Peoples Party (APP).
The Party will be an alternative to the current political parties operating in The Gambia. The APP is founded by a diverse, like-minded and dedicated Gambians at home and abroad who hail from the different regions and communities of our dear country. It is an all-inclusive political party that is motivated by the quest for social justice and empowerment of citizens and non-citizens residing in The Gambia. The Party is keen to introduce structural and systemic change in party politics based on the core principle of providing a basic-needs strategy, combined with respect for fundamental human rights, the rule of law and democratic principles. This will be done in close collaboration with all stakeholders and partners.
Our call for donations is as a result of funding requirements that most new parties are confronted with such as the payment of D1,000,000,00 (One Million Dalasis) equivalent to about twenty one thousand eight hundred US Dollar for party registration, launching of the party congress, establishment of functional national, regional, constituency and ward structures. Added to this is the requirement by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to provide ten thousand signatories across the country which has to be secured, and support to the Taskforce for Better Gambia members for mobility and logistics in its countrywide tour making necessary consultations to promote the party.
It is against this background that APP is soliciting extra funding from all members, more so to avoid depending on a single donor that may cause conflict with party philosophy and principles. The Party looks forward to your kind and generous contribution while we remain thanking you.
