All In for the Allewelts

PLEASE HELP THE ALLEWELT FAMILY.

In the beginning of March, actually late February, Ken began complaining about pain on his side. This pain landed him at the ER and almost immediately, the family received the devastating news of a diagnosis of renal clear cell carcinoma. Needless to say, it was a shocking and emotional time.

Before long, Ken was advised to have surgery to remove the kidney with the cancer, which he did. He was home for a while going to daily radiation treatments when one night he complained of the loss of feeling and control in his legs. He was immediately taken to the ER and scheduled for emergency surgery the next day.

Yes, their fears of bone metastases became real. The cancer had metastasized to his rip and spine. The neurosurgeon did his best to remove as much of the tumor as possible from pressing on his spinal cord which was causing the lack of feeling in Ken's legs. Ken was in the ICU for a while then a step down ICU for another while. He was then sent to a rehab facility who tried working with him to regain the use of his legs.  Soon, the cancer spread up to his neck. He currently has a neck brace to secure his neck as chemotherapy fights the cancer.

He is currently back in the hospital due to complications. He continues chemotherapy treatments. It is unknown how long that will go on.

Ken, who is the bread winner of the family, of course, has not worked since his first hospitalization and while his disability from his job has helped the family, medical bills are mounting by the day.

Hopefully, Ken can turn a corner and return home. When that happens, he will need care that the insurance company will not even begin to touch.

For those of you who know the Allewelt's. They are a hard-working, proud family.  One that supports one another and asks no one for anything. This is where I come in. Please join me in raising enough money to lift this major burden (the financial) off their shoulders as they try to rebuild their lives.  God bless, and be generous! You will be blessed in return.
