Help mom stage four breast cancer

“The day my life changed”

My life changed… On October 26,2013, I was sent home from work due to a back injury, due to lifting a patient. I was out of work, in excruciating pain and waiting on workmen compensation to approve the necessary tests to pinpoint my ailment.

On December 7,2013 (after months of waiting), I was unable to take the pain any longer. I went to the emergency room. I was given a cat scan, which detected spots on my bones, described by the E.R. doctor as, “Swiss cheese”.

I was admitted and told that I had cancer. They needed to find the source of the cancer. The cancer was in my left breast, back, ribs, left hip, and right pelvic bone.

I advised them that in 2010, my left breast was leaking fluid, the color of “motor oil”. My doctor at that time tested the fluid for blood and I was told that everything was okay and that I was too young for a mammogram, I was then 29 years old.

A biopsy was done. On December 10, 2013 I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Thinking I am only 32 years old, always took care of my body, my health… Emotions that were unbearable, am I going to die?  I am a single mom, What will happen to my son? How would he survive without his mom?  Will I see my son graduate from high school? Will I see him graduate from college, get married, see my grand children? How will I tell him?

Feelings of lost morning the women I once was, so young, free and vibrant. To now a body I don’t know. Who is this woman in the mirror I am looking at? Not knowing how my body would feel from day to day. The excruciating pain in my bones and head.

Chemotherapy began right away. Every 3 weeks I had 4 ½ hour infusions, 3 different kind of medicine was injected in a port in my breast area. Length of time was undetermined. My hair began to fall out, weeks after treatment, at first when I brushed my hair then in patches when I washed my hair. I had 15 treatments of chemotherapy by October 2014.in and out of the hospital due to the port getting infected. I needed a break from treatment; my heart was becoming weak, due to the chemo, steroids, and other medicines I am on. In October 2014 my headache was getting worst, reflexes in my legs wasn’t good, my doctor ordered a MRI on my head. The doctors found numerous tumors the cancer metastasized to my brain to many to count. The doctors advised me that radiation was needed or all treatment had to stop…I want to live a good life; I want to see my son and be there for him whenever he needs me. I chose to have the radiation treatment. Radiation treatment started15 treatments on the brain everyday for 3 weeks. Then 10 radiation treatment every day for 2 weeks, on the spine.

Once again birthdays and holidays was spent in the hospital 2015 the new year has come, one year has gone by… in and out the hospital due to pain, infection, treatments. Missing my son my family. Chemo has started up again, I want to live my life to the fullest with my son and family. This disease that took hold of my body is not going to bring me down without a fight. In times like this finances gets hard on me and my family. My son is graduating from high school in June 2015 he is applying for college; he decided to become a nurse. I know that whatever he will do in life he will be successful. I also know that someday will come when I am put to rest. I don’t want that burden on my family and my son. I am pleading for any monetary donation to assist me with my sons high school graduations college tuition and future preparation for my final rest. I sincerely thank you from the bottom to the top of my heart. I am not giving up. All prayers are welcomed,

Sincerely with love, hope and faith
