Alison's Breast Cancer SupportFund

Donation protected
I met Alison about 2 years ago as she stepped onto a virtuous path of practicing living life a different way. As I watched her begin to grow in new and different ways she watched her loved one losing his life to cancer. On July 12, 2017 Alison was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer). She has a tumor in her breast and unfortunately the cancer was also found in a lymph node. When she and I met I was walking through my own breast cancer diagnoses. I had a partner that supported me and took on responsibilities with our family that I could not. Alison has a lot of people that love and care about her and we are building a support team for her as well. Alison is a beautiful woman inside and out that is diligently raising her 3 boys as they move towards and into adulthood. She also has taken on the often unsung role of caring for her mother who has dementia and is now living with her and her 3 boys.

Alison will be having a mastectomy on August 8. She will have several weeks of recovery from that and then start chemotherapy (very small chance she won’t have to and high chance she will). Towards the end of this she will then have radiation. For those that haven’t been through cancer the amount of unexpected costs, doctors’ visits and tests is overwhelming. This doesn’t include the well-known and disturbing side effects that she will walk through as she gets treatment. What can be even more overwhelming is the idea that you can’t take care of your family the way you have for so long. Alison supports herself and her family by working a regular job. She’s a fantastic hair stylist and cuts hair whenever she can to supplement her income. My hope in this fundraising page is to lessen the load that Alison is sure to feel walking through this. She won’t begin reconstruction of her breast for another year and the amount of work/income she will lose is unknown. We have no idea how much money might be needed but anything will help. We want her to be able to focus as much as she can on getting through this and getting better! Thanks so much for helping! Money raised will go to paying for her family and her loss of income. She will likely get some disability but that doesn't really cut it. There is a Meal Train set up and other ways to help but this page is designated to ease the financial burden that comes with the territory.
