Alicia Runge’s Medical Funds

Donation protected

2020 has been a difficult year all around, but Alicia has spent a lot of her time in St,Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. She is currently on her 5th hospital stay since January. She has been fighting what was thought to be an infection since August 2019. The left side of her face and ear swells, is red and warm, and is very painful. The only thing that even slightly helps is IVantibiotics. She would get the IV antibiotics in the hospital, then has had multiple PICC lines placed so she can administer the medication herself at home. Unfortunately, the day she is done with antibiotics this infection starts all over again. Alicia isa mystery to these doctors from Mayo. They haven’t been able to pinpoint what this infection is. They run test after test - blood tests up to 3 times daily, EKGs, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, etc. They are beginning to think this is inflammation instead of infection but then again, have no idea the source of this disease. This illness is affecting her blood counts which in turn is affecting her heart, liver, and kidneys. Her care team includes rheumatology, ENT, dermatology, infectious disease, allergy doctors, and home health nurses when she is administering medication through her PICC line. They have even asked Alicia if they can do a story on her because her illness has been such a mystery to some of the best doctors in the country andwould like to use it for learning purposes in the future.

As Alicia has not been in the best health, she has not been able to work or bring in income for countless weeks throughout the year. She has two children at home who have spent too much time without their mom. She has had to make alternate plans getting Chandler and Charlee to and from school, help with homework, and any other things that come up with two young children. Unfortunately, Alicia is starting to struggle to make ends meet as she is unable to work, still has bills coming in and has children to support. She has also traveled back and forth to Mayo in Rochester multiple times for appointments, hospitalizations, and ER visits. With the holidays coming up, any donation is greatly appreciated. We are hoping Alicia will be in good enough health to enjoy the holidays with her children and family.

Donations are greatly appreciated, as well as any prayers for better health for this beautiful soul. Thank you so much everyone!
