Alicia's battle with SJS

Donation protected

I'd like to introduce you to my sister Alicia.  She is an amazing, fun-loving, free spirited, dedicated 21 year old woman.  She is attending college in Eugene.

This past weekend she was admitted into the hospital with what we thought was a severe case of pneumonia.  Within less than 12 hours it turned into something much worse.  She is now, along with the pneumonia,  fighting a very difficult and painful battle with a condition called Stevens Johnson Syndrome.   It is an uncommon potentially life threatening syndrome that attacks mucus membranes throughout the body as well as the skin.

Info on Stevens Johnson Syndrome

She has a long stay in the burn center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.  Her being up there is a good and bad thing, good because she is in amazing and super qualified hands, but bad because she is a ways away from her family and friends.  Another thing that is affecting her the most is the fact that she is missing an unknown amount of school.

She has an incredibly tough journey ahead of her that is unfortunately going to get worse before it gets better.  Also we were just informed that once she is able to leave the hospital she will need 24 hour care for a while.

With all of the professional care that is needed medical bills will start and continue to pile up.  With this being said, we, as her family have decided to reach out for any help and support we can get with the help of this GoFundMe account.  Any help that can be given is greatly appreciated.  Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully help out.
