Alice's ACL Surgery

Meet Alice! Alice is a lab/mix about 40 lbs. (on a bad day) and will be turning 8 years old on August 12th. She was rescued from a kill shelter down south and I was lucky enough to adopt her through Rescue Road Trips into her forever home in February 2009.
Alice has always been a very active dog, loves running in the woods, running on the beach, and even just running in circles because she is just sooo excited. She is also the sweetest, most lovable, and precious pup. Those that know her can attest to that!
Unfortunately over the past 8 months Alice has began to limp in her rear right leg. At first it was very seldom but in the last couple months it has become so bad that she can rarely use her leg. After many vet visits, pain medications, natural supplements, and investigation of expensive alternative healing methods, the orthopedic specialist has determined that Alice has right cranial crucite ligament disease and has recommended that she have surgery ASAP. The reason for such urgency is not only because of the chronic pain and discomfort she is in, but also partly due to her medical history. In 2011 Alice was stuck by a car, which caused her left hip to be broken which lead to a surgery that has left her with rapidly progressing Arthritis. Although she is able to use her left leg fine, the strain of the current injury is causing the arthritis to amplify quickly.
Having this surgery will allow her to be back to her normal self hiking and running after just a few months of recovery. However, if she does not get the surgery, she will remain on high doses of medication for pain and ultimatly a shorter life span.
For those of you who have dogs or pets know what its like to see them in pain or discomfort. Alice is my best friend, keeper of my secrets and the most loyal dog I could ask for. Please help me get her back on all four paws. Every little bit helps. Thank you.
