Ali's Journey to Thirty

Since I began my journey in the medical field I have had a burning desire to participate in a medical mission trip.  For four years now I repeatedly voiced my aspiration but never made a commitment to this journey.  As my 30th birthday is quickly approaching I have decided there is no better time than the present.  This is the year.  

On November 14th I'll be traveling to Santa Apolonio, Guatemala with my sister Michell, who is also a physician assistant, as part of the Global Health Reach team.  Global Health Reach is a non-profit organization that  has partnered with local Guatemalan NGOs to bring much-needed medical care to remote villages in the Guatemalan Highlands. This region has a population of 40,000, but only one doctor is accessible.  This mission is designed to run as a three day clinic to provide basic healthcare, help educate and empower this community. 

I've created this GoFundMe page as a request for support in two areas.  First, I'm asking you to pray for me- that my service will be amiable and sensitive to the people and the culture in Santa Apolonia.   Second, financially I am responsible for raising $1800 to pay for my initial donation as well as my airfare to Guatemala.  I'm asking you to partner with me in my mission.  

$975- Donation to GRH (medical supplies, medicine, translators, lodging, meals, transportation)
$650- Airfare / Insurance
$175- Miscellaneous items (personal supplies, gear, equipment)
 
Any donation, no matter the denomination,  would be greatly appreciated.  I am beyond blessed and grateful for this opportunity to serve with a goal to provide care, make an impact, show love, and give hope.
