Ali Hooks Medical Costs
Ali Hooks is an 18 year old graduate of Westminster Christian Academy in Opelousas, LA. This smart and fearless young lady set off to fulfill her dream of being am FBI agent by enrolling at Texas Tech in Lubbock. Only a month into her first semester on October 5, Ali was admitted to the hospital. She had not been feeling well but she thought it was a stomach ulcer from the stress of college. Her mother Misti Hyatt wrote: "I am heartbroken to say she is in renal failure and is being placed on dialysis. I am so weak I can barely type this but I’m so thankful for all of the people reaching out to us. I am begging for everyone’s prayers! I know God is powerful! I know prayers are powerful! I watched my mom on dialysis. I never in a million years thought I’d see my child. Please please lift Ali up to God! Love, Misti." Misti's family has a long and tragic history of kidney disease. On Oct. 6, Misti wrote: "I want to thank God for his power and love. Yesterday when I arrived and walked in to see her on dialysis... well just no words. The smell and sound of that dialysis machine is all too familiar. But to see Ali laying there hooked up to it was the most awful helpless feeling. My heart and her dad and step moms heart has been so warmed to hear the medical team talk about how brave and strong Ali was while being alone for about 10 hours until we could make arrangements to get here. The entire medical team has been like angels to us."
Ali has been put in ICU. She is on dialysis and is receiving blood due to unknown reason of blood loss. Ali is being considered an emergency case. She has fluid smothering her heart and is having surgery to have the fluid drained.
Ali's mom and dad (Toby Hooks) are with her in Lubbock. With her being in this condition so far from home, people want to do something to help.
