Alex's trip to Mongolia for global citizenship

Update: The target amount has been reached, meaning that I will be able to go on the trip. However, you can still donate in order to help fund projects by Wilde Ganzen, a charity that fights inequality and poverty. While not definite, some of the projects being considered are the construction of a sports field or art room at a school in Mongolia. Please bear in mind that I will not be covering the transaction fees for these donations as otherwise, it would be getting too expensive for me. Thanks again for your support.

Hi, I'm Alex and at the end of the school year, I'm hoping to go on a three-week trip with Stichting Global Exploration. Global Exploration aims to bring students from around the world together and to make them more aware of other cultures by organising trips to promote global citizenship.

My trip will be to Mongolia, where we will visit the capital of Mongolia: Ulaanbaatar, a small mining town called Nalaikh and the Gün Galuut nature reserve. This will give us a wide variety of experiences. While in Mongolia, we will be staying with several host families and will be helping out at and visiting several schools, giving us loads of opportunities to meet Mongolians and learn about their culture from them. Besides this, we will also be going on a three-day walk and exploring Mongolia on our own by doing other activities with our group.

Before we go we will also be following classes on and doing research ourselves into Mongolian education, nature, culture and healthcare and how these relate to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

After 2 years of trips like this being cancelled due to Covid, I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to go on this incredible, once-in-a-lifetime trip before leaving secondary school. And I've been lucky enough to be in one of the groups going to Mongolia, a beautiful country with a lot of history which is often overlooked, and one I probably never would have visited otherwise, and I can't wait for all the experiences I will have there.

However, in order to go I will need to raise at least €1,650, not including the €900 that will have to be paid ourselves, adding up to a total of €2,850 which will need to be paid. However, luckily €300 will be subsidised. Of this €175 will go directly to the charity Wilde Ganzen which funds projects in the country we are going to, with the rest of the money being used to cover our expenses (travel, food, etc.).

Any money donated after the target is reached will go to Wilde Ganzen.
