Alexis Scott Emergency College Fund

Hello everyone. My name is Alexis Scott, a rising 3rd year 5 year MBA major from Washington D.C and I am trying my best to get back to college (Hampton University). Growing up losing my dad to cancer and having to mature faster than the average child has changed my life. I never knew I would have the opportunity to go to college until the 11th grade, but however I knew that education was a big priority for me. Throughout elementary, middle and high school, I maintained to be on honor roll and remained to be a good student. I received many honor roll awards and was inducted to the National Honors Society. Due to having a 3.8 GPA, being ranked 6 out of my class and showing my dedication to hard work in high school, I was awarded a scholarship which is helping me to pursue my college career. Unfortunately, the scholarship is not enough for the upcoming semester. I was told that I need to come up with $10,000 to continue my education for the Fall semester at Hampton University. I've been consistently applying to scholarships, but I haven't heard back from any. I have student loans, a grant and a scholarship, but it's challenging to apply for other loans due to having a single mom who is struggling. I’ve applied for a parent plus loan, bank loans, but don’t qualify because of credit not meeting it’s requirements. I've been in good standing academically at Hampton and I've been very involved on campus. All this time, I've been worrying about how I would remain in school to complete my education and I fear being judged or not being able to continue my education at the college that I love so much. Move in day on campus is on August 23rd, and classes start on August 27th. I know there is little time, but maybe I can have the chance to go back to school this Fall semester or even continue my education starting the Spring semester instead with the help of you. My goal is to have at least $10,000 by August 23rd or the 25th. All the support will be greatly appreciated towards my dream of continuing my education at Hampton University.
