Please help support Alexis Kennedy during her fight with Breast Cancer
Hi Friends and Family - As many of you know, my sister Alexis, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. We have a family history - Our grandmother battled it unsuccessfully, our mother battled it a few years back and is still cancer free, and now Lex is about to start her own battle and journey. Lex will have a surgery to remove the breast cancer and reconstruct on Oct 15th. Post-surgery the focus is recovery, once past that, it will be weeks of radiation therapy, followed by hormone therapy. Thank goodness for early detection - she was able to catch it in an early stage. (Ladies, please be diligent about getting your mammograms).
A few of you have reached out and have asked how you can help. She was just a couple weeks into training sessions with a new job when she received the news. Being too new in the job, she had to resign in order to deal with the time off required to fight this breast cancer. Having to quit her job and having insurance that is less than stellar with high deductibles - the financial strain will definitely be felt this year and next as the medical bills roll in. They have told her to expect to reach the out of pocket maximum for the next two years. So I have set up this Go Fund Me page for their family. I am hoping to collect enough to offset what we expect to be heavy medical bills in the months ahead so she can just focus on her fight and recovery.
Even if you can’t give - positive thoughts and prayers funneled her way are much appreciated. And if you are local to Lex in Indiana - gift cards to local restaurants would help with the burden of cooking etc while recovering from surgery and going through treatments - there are three very active growing boys in the house!
