Hello,
My baby sister, Marilyn Gotay passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 10, leaving behind her two beautiful children, Edward (Eddie) and Alexia (Nana). Marilyn was the youngest of five sisters and the life of every party, even the ones that you didn't want to attend. When you were having a hard day, she would make you food, listen to your issues, and open her heart to you. She was the aunt that all of the children gravitated to; they went everywhere with her. Whenever you saw Marilyn, there were usually at least 12 more kids following her, especially Eddie and Nana. She never went anywhere without her kids; they were her pride and joy.
Nana is 10 years old and about to enter 5th grade. A sponge for information, she loves asking questions, trying new things, baking, crafting and tackling DIY projects. She was very close to her mother, and loved spending time with her through girl days, shopping, watching movies, and read together at night.
Eddie is 16 years old and is entering 11th grade this coming school year. He is shy, compassionate, and tech savvy; he has a passion for video games and even won a tournament last summer. He was also very close to his mother, who had begun the process of registering him for a summer tech camp that is specifically created for children with autism.
Marilyn made sure that both Nana and Eddie prioritized their education and found ways to develop the skills and talents that they were passionate about. The sudden loss of their mother has been emotionally and financially devastating, and we want to ensure that we can give them the opportunities that Marilyn had wanted and help them as they move into this new normal.
