TENNIS ANYONE??  ONLY FOR THE PRIVILEGED??

There is someone I have met who I want to help move forward in life.
On the face of it, he is not going to appear desperate, or poor, or "in need".  But there are circumstances he describes to me that are so compelling, that I must do something for him.  Your help will be so appreciated and valuable!
Let me tell you about him... 

His name is Alexandr (Alex) Cozbinov, currently ranked as the #2 tennis player in Moldova, the poorest country in all of Europe  (As an example, the average income is $2,000 per year.  Parents struggle to feed their families)

Alex started playing tennis at the  age of 5.
Until age 13, his father (former USSR track & field athlete & amateur tennis player), was his tennis coach and fitness trainer, making sure Alex could compete in junior events throughout Europe (with minimal resources).   It quickly became clear that Alex could become a serious, international contender, winning the Moldovan Junior National Championship 14 times from ages 9 to 16 in combined singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. At age 16, he won two European tournaments defeating German, Alexander Zverev in the finals.  Zverev is now ranked #4 in the world in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Alex held the #1 ranking in Moldova and was National Champion in every age category for juniors. Remarkably, he is a winner of EVERY national tournament held in Moldova, and achieved a record of 28/2 playing for a legendary German tennis club from ages 16 to 18, representing both juniors and adults.

By 16 years of age he achieved the status of "Master of Sport" in Moldova by winning the Moldovan tennis championship in the "men's" category.  Alex accomplished this, building his skills between 13 and 16,  on his own  (due to economic crisis in Moldova,  Alex's father could no longer coach, train or transport him ).

Upon graduation from high school, Alex was told he would have to work.

Shortly after this time period, Alex was playing in Romania and was noticed by several recruiters from  American colleges, one of whom made a phone call to  the United States.  Alex was offered a full tennis scholarship "on the spot" via phone contact with the tennis coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

During his time at UNLV, he won major recognition, both on and off the court (academic and tennis awards).

Since graduating in 2018 from UNLV, Alex has pursued his dream in professional tennis on the International Tennis Federation Tour.  His goal is to make the elite tour (ATP) in both singles and doubles.  As a junior, he  won matches against a number of the current ATP players.  He also plays Davis Cup for Moldova.

NOW, for Alexandr to reach his DREAM, he needs the funding to further his professional athletic career: coaching, training, equipment, travel, room & board, and entry fees.

HERE'S THE PROBLEM:  HOW DO YOU PROGRESS AS A PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE FROM A POOR COUNTRY IF YOU ARE NOT BLESSED WITH THE RESOURCES YOU NEED (money, connections, influence, resources, etc.)? Alex's family is unable to support him financially, and like many other countries throughout the world, there is no funding available to athletes.

So, now you might say: "Why doesn't Alex just "get a job" and earn his way there?"

Well, there are a number of reasons that make it extremely complicated:
1) To play your best, you must play, practice, and work on your sport all the time. Professional tennis is his full time job. You must be razor sharp to compete against elite players;
2) You must hire a coach, someone who has the experience to see minor imperfections in your physical and mental skills and help you improve. In addition, you need a coach who can observe your opponent and help you develop a strategy for defeating him;
3) You must play approximately 40 tournaments per year to earn the points necessary to qualify for the ATP.  Alex had the money to play 2 tournaments in 2017 and 6 tournaments in 2018;
4) Alex needs to compete internationally, increasing his chances of qualifying. Otherwise, he will have to return to Moldova, find a job in another part of the world, and  give up on his childhood DREAM.

I BELIEVE THIS WOULD BE A TRAVESTY.
