Alex's Fight With Pancreatic Cancer

Donation protected
Dear loving friends, family, those who knew Sasha and those who didn't,

As some of you may know, Aleksandr Mikhailov or Sasha, was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer in December of 2016. Yes, the Sasha that we all love, that always tries to make everyone laugh, the one that grabs the microphone first at kareoke, the life of the party, yes, our Sasha. The first CT Scan showed he had a massive tumor sitting on his pancreas. The news was tragic as the prognosis for survival from pancreatic cancer was slim. But Sasha is our fighter. All of 2017, Sasha was battling the disease with every type of treatment he could come across; holistic, traditional, western, etc. He was reading the latest medical journals to keep up with current pancreatic cancer research, trying alternative medicine and getting 2nd and 3rd opinions. Sasha tried everything he could get his hands on. He started at Memorial Sloan Kettering Center with chemo therapy followed by radiation with the hopes of shrinking and containing the tumor to eventually be able to remove it through surgery. Although the chemo was very aggressive, Sasha did not miss a day of work unless he had to for an appointment or procedure. He tried to work as long as possible because his and his parents money was being quickly eaten by medical expenses. He always stayed positive, never complained and tried his best for the pain to not get in the way of his daily life. Unfortunately, the chemo and radiation did not improve his condition nor did it shrink the tumor. Sasha did not give up. He traveled twice to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to see a top pancreatic-specialty surgeon for a consultation to remove the mass. The surgeon evaluated Sasha’s situation and sadly he was not qualified due to the high risk of the surgery. The latest PET scan, in January 2018, had indicated that the cancer had spread to his lungs, liver and stomach. Sasha had his whole life ahead of him and it is painful to watch such a strong, young man deteriorate as he loses his fight to cancer. This disease has no pity nor mercy on anyone and takes our loved ones before their time.

A few weeks ago, Sasha’s oncologist advised there is nothing more they can offer and to prepare for the end of life phase. We are humbly requesting your financial support at this extremely difficult period. We want to help Sasha with his daily fight with the monster and make him as comfortable as possible for the remainder of his time. We will use the donations for his end of life costs.

We greatly appreciate any contributions, any advice, any helpful contacts that you may have for Sasha and his family. We are still open to suggestions as Sasha is looking for a miracle. Thank you for the support from family, friends, and well-wishers during this time. We are grateful for all your help!
