Alex & Justin's Journey Through IVF

Hi everyone, some of you may already know the struggles that Justin and I have been going through trying to conceive and for those of you that don’t, we wish it were under different circumstances but we want to share our story with you as well. Please know, if the topic of infertility or reading further about our story is something that makes you uncomfortable feel free to not continue beyond this point. Please trust that this has been a very difficult and thought out decision on whether or not to publicly share our journey and ask for support. Ultimately, it always comes back to achieving our dream of having a child above all else. We have whole heartedly decided that this is the best choice for our family and these are a few of the reason why.
Infertility is a subject that is not openly discussed, yet one that effects millions of people and 1 out of 8 women. We would like to be apart of opening up that dialogue and potentially helping someone who might be going through it as well. If we can inspire or encourage just one person to reach out for help if they are fighting their own battle with infertility, or anything for that matter, than we feel as though our words are more than just words.
Our process of trying to conceive has already been an emotional roller coaster getting to this point. Over the past year we have been through every grueling appointment, test, procedure and finally, an invasive surgery done this past January, which determined I am unable to conceive naturally and our only option is to undergo IVF. Although, receiving this news was one of the most devastating days of our lives, we immediately knew that giving up was not an option and we will do whatever it takes to have a family of our own.
Infertility is a struggle that changes you more than I could have even believed. Most of you may know me for being a happy go lucky, best day ever type of person and I feel a huge responsibility to not only teach, encourage, and inspire all the young girls I coach but most importantly be a positive influence and bring joy to their lives. However, coping with infertility has been something that has challenged my way of seeing the world. Most days I feel as though I am a shell of my former self; each morning I wake up and try to go on with my life as though nothing has changed, only it has. But in spite of everything, both Justin and I always hold on to hope. Hope that the joy of seeing our baby’s face for the first time will erase all the pain we have experienced. Hope is stronger than fear.
We really do need your help. Not only financially, but emotionally as well. Because Justin and I believe in prayer and the power of positive energy, we feel the more people we can get supporting us in our journey, the more positive our outcome will be. Unfortunately there is a huge financial obligation that comes with IVF. Just one IVF cycle with chromosomal embryo testing and medications will be approximately $25,000. And even more unfortunately our insurance does not cover any of this cost. Utilizing our own resources, combined with generous donations we have already received from a few close friends and family, we have made some headway. Thus, we have decided to ask for your support in helping us reach our goal of $7,000. We know that this is a huge goal, and although we will never be able to thank you enough, please trust that it will always be something we will remain eternally grateful for.
We already feel like every day is one day closer to us having a child and with every step we become more humble and gracious to have this opportunity of IVF. We know that this will work and that our journey, like many couples, happens to have a few more obstacles. We sincerely from the bottom of our hearts thank everyone who took the time to read our story and share in this experience with us. We will be starting this process soon and it will continue over the next few months but we would like to keep the exact timeline to ourselves in order to avoid having to share any disappointing news. Thank you for all the love the support we have already been shown and thank you for being the amazing people we have the privilege to have in our lives.
