Aloha Family and Friends,

My name is Aleizha Ho’opai and I am eight years old.  My mommy and daddy are Milette and Shane Ho’opai.  God blessed me with a special body.  When I was one, I started to have urinary problems.  By the time I was 3-1/2 years old I got to work with many doctors and specialist.  One day when my mommy and daddy took me to Honolulu to see my specialist he put me to sleep to run this big test called an MRI.  When I woke up he told my mommy and daddy that I needed to have a surgery.  A month later, we flew back to Honolulu for my surgery.  But while I was sleeping my specialist discovered that my body was so special that he would not be able to fix it.  When I woke up we meet my specialist in his office and he told us that we would have to go all the way to Boston for my surgery.  I guess God was so creative when he created my body that no doctor has ever seen such a specially designed urinary system like mine.  That’s why we needed to travel so far to see the best team in the nation to do my surgery.
That summer my mommy, daddy, grandparents and I traveled all the way to Boston for my surgery.  After many tests, the specialist told my mommy and daddy that I would need to have 3 to 4 surgeries to fix my special body.  When I was 4 years old I had my first surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital.  My surgery took 7 long hours.  We stayed in Boston for two months before my team of specialist let my family and me come home.
After my first surgery, I didn’t have as many infections as I used to. I also had times when I did really well and times when I did not so good.  Recently my mommy and grammy took me back to see my specialist in Honolulu because I started to have a lot of complications.  After many tests, my specialist told us that it was time to go back to Boston for another really big surgery.
Traveling all the way to Boston and having to stay there for such a long time cost A LOT of money. We are very lucky to have medical insurance but it doesn’t cover any housing and travel expenses for the 2 to 3 months we will need to stay at Boston.   Any and all donations will be helpful and greatly appreciated.  Please keep my family and me in your prayers.  Thank you for your love and prayers may God Bless you and your ohana.
James 1:12-13:  Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.  Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

Much Love and Appreciation,

Aleizha, Milette and Shane Ho’opai
