Aleesha's Medical Fund

Aleesha is a 37 y.o. woman who suffers from sudden fainting episodes. These episodes can occur whenever she standing. When she faints, she can be unconscious from 5 to 90 minutes but the recovery can take days as the fall is usually accompanied by  concussions, migraines, and paralysis.

We are trying to raise enough money so she can be seen at the Mayo Clinic. The Mayo Clinic offers experimental treatment and clinical trials into complex medical mysteries.  After consulting all doctors, specialists and physicians, this is their last hope. The only thing holding her back from getting in, is the large acceptance fee of $50,000.  Aleesha’s parents have been trying to go through this on their own, but her parents’ retirement, savings and other assets have been depleted. They are even in the process of selling her childhood home, to raise money to help Aleesha and provide a safer place for them all to live (the home she grew up in has 21 stairs, which is not safe given her condition).  
In the meantime she attempts to live her life. She is an instructor for the Ballard Eagles Drill Team and tries to get out of the house a to support them whenever she can (with her parents’ help).
Aleesha is a strong, kind hearted, sweet person that has always put all of her efforts towards helping other people. This page has been created to turn around and give back to her.

For some background:

Aleesha’s condition started when she was 11 but was only once a year. Starting in 1997 it increased to 5-6 times a month when she started college. She had a complete medical and psychological work up at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland. They could find no reason for episodes but said they might be a weird migraine condition. She had to be enrolled as a disabled student in order to stay in school. She graduated from college and came back to Seattle in 2001 and her episodes only happened every 6-8 weeks. She was able to work for a few years but when she went back to school to get her Masters in School Counseling and Education the frequency increased. She eventually had to quit working and ended up taking a medical leave from school. After a year she returned to school and finally got her Masters in 2012. Since then the frequency has increased to 1-2 times a day making it impossible to go to work. When going out in public, she is in a wheelchair. She still has to stand to get in and out of car so she still experiences fainting spells during these outings. She can't be alone and has had to move back home with her parents. Everywhere she goes so go her mom and dad. Her mom is legally blind and can't drive so her dad accompanies them everywhere. She has suffered multiple concussions from falls when an episode hits and she is on stairs. She has had many secondary concussions for the same reason. Regardless of where she is, her head always hits the ground. She describes it as like being hit by a car daily. Sometimes it takes days to recover mentally from repeated falls. She has seen many medical Drs, Naturopaths, Neurologists, Chiropractors, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Massage therapists, Acupuncture practitioners and even a hypnotist. She has taken many, many different drugs to no avail. At this point, we have no real diagnosis. There is a migraine condition that has fainting spells but not this frequent and no real test to prove diagnosis.
