Aldo Mendoza Stay Strong

On Saturday evening, 1 August, Aldo Mendoza, a beloved Spanish instructor at Offutt AFB Language Training Detachment of DLI, was rushed to the ICU at CHI health center in Omaha of Nebraska due to severe COVID-19 symptoms. Unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with corona-virus and pneumonia. As expected by the detrimental impact of these two diseases, his right lung is currently in a critical condition. 

Aldo is a very honorable, humorous, and dedicated colleague at DLI since 2018. He has a great passion for teaching and enjoys helping his students reach higher levels. Everyone at the Offutt LLC considers him a friend and an excellent language educator. He is also a veteran. Before he joined DLI in 2018, he once served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Iraq for four years. He deployed without hesitation to protect his loved ones and the whole nation that he loves.

After he left the army, Aldo went to graduate school. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Hispanic Literary and Cultural Studies at Florida State University. He has finished his 2nd draft of his dissertation. He is planning to graduate this winter if everything goes well. He is so close to graduation.

Aldo is also a responsible and loving husband and father of three school-age children. His family needs him back to their normal life.

The last message that Aldo, after being hospitalized, sent to his family and friends was a picture of a warrior. We understand that he remains strong, and he is fighting as he used to as a warrior. Years ago, he was a warrior fighting for his country. Yeas later, he is now a warrior fighting for his loved ones.

We are raising money for Aldo Mendoza’s family to help them cover expenses from the head of household being hospitalized. We understand that we have all been affected in one way or another by this pandemic; yet, to hear that Aldo is fighting coronavirus is very much another personal reminder of how aggressive this disease is.
