In late February early March of this year my dad was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer.  It is so terrifying and sad to see how many people are affected by all different types of Cancer and you really don’t realize how many are out there until you have to sit in a waiting room filled with people waiting for treatments and see what they go through. I was able to experience this for the first time when I went back to New Mexico and took my dad for his treatments for the first time. My dad started treatments the weekend after Easter Sunday and is almost done with 6 weeks out the 7 weeks of the first round of treatment that the doctors gave him. Which consist of 2 different types of Chemo that he gets every Monday. Along with Chemo he gets Radiation treatment everyday Monday through Friday. When he finishes his first round of treatments, we will be finding out what the next step is for him in his treatment process what can be anywhere from another round of Chemo and Radiation to possibly surgery depending on how the first round of treatment has worked. Even though my dad has 2 types of insurance the expense of paying the left over medical bills are overwhelming for him and my mom, with him being retired my mom being on disability they are on a tight budget. All of my sisters and my brother have pitched in and helped as much as we can so far to cover co-pays, bills that have already come in, and other ways financially to help out my parents. There has been so many other family members and friends that have helped in many other ways as well and we thank you so very much and appreciated it all. I know the cost is just going to grow as he may need more treatments after he finishes this first round. My sister Rachel has been asked by several people on how they can help out and the one concern all of us kids have for my parents is the expense of the medical bills so we thought this may be the best way to help take the stress off of my parents on how they are going to pay for these extra expenses. So for those who want to help or would like to help this is one way to do so. All money raised will be put in a medical expense account to be used only for paying his medical bills as they come in. I know families are on tight budgets and may not be able to donate financially so if you would like to help out in other ways you can contact my sister Rachel or me on Facebook to find out what other ways they could use the help, any and all help that is given is very much appreciated. We Thank you all so very much for the support and love that everyone has already shown my dad through his battle to fight Lung Cancer, I know it keeps him going and fighting to know he has so many wonderful people out there praying and wanting to help him during this time.
