Rent Relief for Alayna & Aaron

Hi everyone! I'm asking for help for my roommate and I, who are experiencing a bit of a financial emergency. For background, I was forced out of my old living situation after things escalated with my ex and turned violent. He ended up fracturing my skull, which was not the first but the worst time he had put hands on me. Aaron, a coworker and good friend of mine, was kind enough to agree to be roommates, as he was running into some housing trouble around the same time. So our lease recently ended and while we were able to secure new housing, things have generally plummeted since. Just this week, I was demoted and then subsequently laid off of my job after trying to put in my notice (a long story, involving upper management telling me to stop hiring "those types of people" (black people) and shorting my paychecks, amongst other things) and I am in the midst of a long hiring process for the children's hospital nearby. I have been trying to pick up odd jobs where I can, but have been generally unsuccessful. My roommate, Aaron, is currently working two jobs and is looking at picking up a third. But as it stands, both of our accounts are in the negative hundreds and our stimulus checks, which were a supposed lifeline, got mixed up into the H&R block/turbotax mess, and we likely won't see the paper checks for weeks. Or we'll have to wait for tax season to claim them. I am also a single mother. My son, Theodore, is one. Trying to balance childcare, school and work has not been easy, but I am finishing up my Missouri EMT-B license and remain hopeful that I'll find a better and more stable career in that field, as both Aaron and I have had horrible luck in the restaurant industry. We've run out of options. Neither of us like that we're in this position, and anything we were banking on (no pun intended) has been ripped from under us, so I'm backed into a corner and asking for help. Any and all funds donated to Aaron, Theo and I would go towards paying off outstanding/final bills at our previous apartment, securing utilities at our new house, and making sure my son has food, as well as just generally keeping our heads above water. This is really our last resort, and neither of us likes to ask for help, but I'm struggling to see a way out of this and am so thankful for ANY amount donated.
