Dearest family, extended family, friends, loved ones, and anyone who knows and loves the wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend, Alan Johnson.
Alan and his beautiful new wife, Nonie (nee: Ruzevich) - newly married just this past Friday, Oct. 27!! - desperately and humbly ask for your immediate help and support.
Due to the urgent nature of this plea, we'll keep the specific diagnostic timeline details to a minimum but, over the past two weeks (actually more like 10 days) and with little to no advanced symptomatic warnings, Alan, at the young age of 53, has been hit with the absolutely devastating news that he has been diagnosed with late stage, inoperable lymphatic cancer which, according to his oncologist, has rapidly spread to his lungs and is spreading throughout his body.
Although he intends to fervently pursue all his oncologist’s “standard of care” treatment recommendations, get a second opinion, etc., it looks more and more like the oncologic-based treatment options being discussed and presented to him are few and far between. Basically, they appear to offer him very little hope and, unfortunately, actually seem to actively discourage him from having any hope at all.
But, if you know anything about our Alan, (especially if you don’t) you should know he is a determined and fearless fighter and has every intention of facing this fight of and for his life with the same determination, humor, selflessness and zest for living with which he has always faced every challenge he’s ever been confronted with. Alan, at his core, is a fierce competitor and he plays to win! With Nonie at his side and their future together foremost in his mind, he has every intention of fighting this relentless and insidious beast and sending it back to the depths of hell from which it came!
To this end, he needs your help. While Alan has worked hard his whole life and has health insurance, as many of you probably already know, like the majority of insurance companies, they have little interest or incentive to encourage, promote or (most discouraging of all) pay for or support treatment options or modalities not pharmacologically based, oncologist directed and which are insurance company accepted “standard-of-care,” treatment recommendations. So, while Alan is willing to undergo any and all such methods and options if encouraged, said encouragement is, sadly, in short supply.
Nevertheless, the fact is that other holistic and non-traditional treatment options do exist. While Alan accepts that there are certainly no guarantees, he wants to be able to pursue these nontraditional, alternative and holistic options in an attempt to better arm and prepare his body to fight the progression of this terrible disease with all the tools, awareness and forethought he can bring to his intention to fight and to win. Just to be clear, Alan isn’t afraid to fight the good fight and go down doing so. He just wants to be able to even the odds by taking advantage of every healing opportunity and strategy available to him and his beloved, Nonie.
With your help and support he can do just that. Alan is the type of person and friend that is always there to help anyone who asks. He is a champion of any and all underdogs and, if you know him and love him, he’s probably been there for you at one time or another. Right now, he and Nonie really, really need your help. Any financial support you can offer, no matter how small and seemingly insignificant, will be eternally appreciated and cherished. Any financial support he receives will be used to fund a treatment approach that will allow him to stay at an alternative and holistically based mind and body cleansing and healing center in Florida that will give him the time, treatment modalities, ideas, approaches, training and most importantly, hope, he needs to try to slow or stop this senseless cancer’s assault on his life and future.
