Help Alan Fight Aplastic Anemia

Donation protected
Alan Romero (24) went to the doctor in late January for flu symptoms. After days of testing and blood transfusions, he found out he had a rare case of Aplastic Anemia. He was immediately hospitalized and in critical condition.

Since then, he has received multiple blood, plasma, and platelet transfusions weekly. After some testing, it was discovered his 16 year old brother is a perfect match to be a donor and Alan will be receiving a bone marrow transplant soon. For this procedure, he will be an inpatient at the City of Hope Hospital in LA for 3-4 months and in complete isolation to prevent infections. Given that the transplant is successful, he faces a recovery time of 1 year.

Alan and his partner Nadia,  support their almost 2 year old daughter, Elena Sofia. During the time Alan is at City of Hope, Nadia and Elena will also relocate to LA to be with him and provide support, with Nadia quitting her job in order to be a primary caregiver. Any funds raised will help cover medical and living expenses. They also will provide support for his daughter while he is unable to work as he goes through this incredible challenge.

Hydrating and diet is an important part of the process, so gift cards to local grocery stores are helpful too. They can be delivered to Patterson Self-Storage at 98. North Patterson (who will deliver them to Alan). We want to get him back to good health and his family!

Alan is a graduate of San Marcos High class of 2012, La Colina Jr. High and Monte Vista Elementary and his favorite sport is boxing and he worked out at the State Street Boxing Club!

Alan is an all-around great guy and devoted father. We are hoping the community and everyone that knows him will help get him the funds he needs to get better.
