Alana's Field School


Field School Details
Alana has been accepted into the Achill Archaeological Field School in Achill Island, Ireland through National University of Ireland Galway! For those that do not know, Alana is a 16 year old Honors College student at CalState LA majoring in Anthropology. She skipped high school and started college at 14. She would like to focus her graduate studies in Ancient Celtic and Near Eastern Archaeology, so to have the opportunity to dig in Ireland is very exciting to her!

At the Achill Island field school, she intends to participate in an excavation on Caraun Point containing early medieval enclosure, a children’s burial ground, shell middens, and a number of stone buildings of unknown date eroding out of the sand dunes for 6 weeks this summer. The cost of tuition is 4500 Euros ($5550 USD) and airfare to and from Shannon will be $1200 RT. 

Alana is offering sketches to anyone who donates $50-$100, a painting from her collection for donations of $100-$1000, and a custom painting to anyone who donates $1000 or more!
