Cancer Treatment for Alan Thwaites

Five years ago, I had a brain tumor the size of a raquetball in my head.  The doctors gave me two years to live without surgery. The neurosurgeon removed the bulk of the tumor but couldn't get it all. The tumor has entangled itself in the motor strip of my brain. The surgeon claimed that if he had gone after the rest, I would have been paralized perminantly on my left side or dead. As it turned out, I was paralized after the surgery, but only temporarily. I have regained most of my function since then. It has been a long-hard-road since 2010.  Chemotherapy and going back to work wasn't a great idea, but it was the only option I had until Obamacare was passed. Everything seemed stable and on the right course with my MRIs.

However, at the end of 2014, my oncologist claimed that there was growth in the tumor site and that she is recomending radiation treatments. She also confessed that there is a new biologic treatment,  or "biological response modifier therapy" that is not covered by my insurance. She told me that it would cost $80,000.00. I really don't have that kind of money. I had to retire early from my position at UC San Diego, UCSD-TV about a year ago. My retirement funds were taxed to the hilt and the rest is almost gone.

If anyone could help me with the expense of this treatment, my wife and I would be eternally grateful. This is really my only chance for a cure.
