Alaina's Journey

Alaina Jade was diagnosed with kidney failure with just being 19 months old. Alaina went into the hospital on July 18th, 2017 with what was thought to be an infection. Alaina had back to back fevers, and it was determined she had a UTI. After further testing, Alaina's urine showed an extreme amount of protein present. The doctor's became concerned and did more testing, and mentioned Nephrotic Syndrome. On July 21st, Alaina went under anesthesia to get a kidney biopsy. The doctor found a lot of scarring in both of her kidneys and it was confirmed that Alaina had lost 75% function in both kidneys. As of right now, Alaina only has 25% function in both kidneys. When Alaina gets down to 20% functioning, her parents are going to have to go through the process of a kidney transplant.
As some may know, Alaina has had multiple health conditions since she was born. Robert and Courtney have continued to work, while taking care of Alaina and their 8 year old Jayla. As you can imagine there will be multiple bills, and many days taken off work, which will result in stress over the family financially. Oh my sweet Alaina. As I sit here typing this, I can't help but cry. You're my girl. You've been my girl since the moment you were born. My love for you is abundant. Aunt yaya wants you to be a warrior during this time and fight little one! You and Jayla have put so much joy in my life and I can't imagine not having you all in my life. Your yaya will be here every step of the way. I love you so much baby girl. You keep fighting!
