Al has been working for Nipsco in Local 12775 for 9+ years.  He is currently a FGD Operator at RMSGS- Wheatfield.
Al is married and has 4 children - Damion(16), Hailey(11), Emily(8), & Ajay(6).
Al was involved in a bad car accident at the beginning of August while on his way to work.  Al was transported to Porter Hopsital where they decided his injuried were to extensive for them to handle so he was air lifted to a hopsital in Chicago that would better be able to help him.  When everything was said and done Al has suffered a broken humerous in his right arm and had to have surgery to put a plate and screws in from his elbow up to just below his shoulder, a broken left wrist that required surgery to put a plate and screws in from his wrist  to about halfway up to his elbow.  He suffered a broken femur in his right leg and had surgery to put a rod and pins in from his hip to his knee.  He fractured his pelvis on the right side, but was allowed to heal on its own but he had to wear a hip brace.  He tore his PCL in his left leg that required surgery to put a screw in the back side of his knee and he wears a knee brace to help support and heal it.   He suffered a fractured left heel which was let to heal on its own, but Al wears an air cast boot to protect it.  He also had stitches from the left side of his nose down to his lip.
With everything being broken Al couldn't do anything and he has had to rely on others to do everything for him.  He had to have a hospital bed put in his house and a hoyer lift so his wife would be able to get him out of bed and into his wheelchair and they had to get a wheelchair ramp built to be able to get in out of the house.  Al is now learning how to get around on crutches and his going to therapy to strengthen his muscles since he has been unable to use them for the past 2+ months.  He is also having to retrain his body to move around the way it should for walking.
Al and his family have been through so much.  We are asking for donations to help he and family out finanacially since sick leave in limited and running out.  We want Al to be able to focus on healing and not have an added stressor of finances.  We are so thankful Al is alive and doing better, but he still has a long road to a full recovery ahead of him.  So let's help make that road an eaiser one!  Let's help our Union brother out!
Thank you all in advance for your help!
