Help Me Get Back on My Feet

Donation protected
As most of you know, I have had a very challenging time the last seven month. First, there was open-heart surgery to repair an aneurysm in the aortic arch at the top of my heart, as well as to perform a bypass on my right coronary artery that was 70 percent blocked. Then on New Years Eve, I came down with a serious spinal infection that put me in the hospital for four months and necessitated a hasty move from my previous residence, which was not wheelchair accessible, into an apartment that is.

Now that the infection has been cleared up, I am starting down the long, arduous road to recovery. The four-month hospital stay reduced me to a weakling and put me in a wheelchair! There will be months of physical therapy for me to get me out of this chair and back into shape so I can take care of myself, as well as find the employment necessary to sustain my new living arrangement. I moved into a lovely 55-plus independent living retirement community that meets ALL my needs, including social events and potential new friends which I did not have access to at my previous address.

Unfortunately, my new apartment came with a hefty price tag … roughly TWICE what I was paying before surgery and my illness. And until I can get to work, that price tag leaves me with a shortfall of about $500 per month. I was hoping to avail myself of the system and get hooked up with Section 8 funding. But I learned right after moving that the waiting list for Sec. 8 is nearly two years long!!

So it is with a great deal of humility that I ask you all to pitch in and help me make it back to work. I am hoping to be able to get my job back at Target, where I worked as a cashier right after moving to the Twin Cities back in October, 2015. When I fell ill and had to stop working, I was assured that I had a job waiting for me when I was able to come back. Well, I am almost ready! And with your help, I will be able to keep this new apartment, which is less than two miles from that store!!

Please help, and it doesn't matter how much you pitch in! Every dollar counts, and you will be helping me get BACK ON MY FEET and BACK TO WORK!!

If you cannot contribute, please share this with your friends who might be able to help.

Thank you all so very much for reading this, and for your love and assistance.
