Help save Akira’s life!
Hey there! Please meet Akira!
I am an 18 months old handsome gentleman who has been dealing with some emergency health issues.
I can be sassy and feisty but deep down I'm cute and friendly. I make everyone feel warm and fuzzy when they meet me. I am a magical cat. My favourite things:
1. Mum
2. Mum's couch (i use it as my personal VIP scratcher)
3. Catnip is my deal
4. Yummy foods. Not the ones that mum gives me but the ones mum eats herself. Yes, I steal her food - judge me!
Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with wet FIP on 21st July 2020. FIP is a horrible deadly disease that kills 1 in 100 to 1 in 300 of all cats (or should I say kittens) under ages 3-5. The incidence can be five to 10 times greater among young cats coming from catteries and shelters. FIP is virtually 100% fatal, and there is no legal treatment or cure (in Australia) . FIP can manifest suddenly—weeks, months or even years after initial infection. Therefore, cat lovers usually experience the heartbreak of this disease long after they have developed strong emotional bonds with their pets (https://www.zenbycat.org/about-fip).
My mum was devastated to hear the news.. She is a single baby cat mumma, so she was really worried that the situation would put her in high degree emotional and financial strain cause not only it is hard to take care of a sick kitty on one's own but FIP is also is such an expensive disease.
Mum started this GoFundMe page for hope that kind kind people can donate or share it with friends.
Mum wants me to live very much. I am a magical cat and I have always been by her side, when she was sick or sad. She really needs me. And I don't deserve to die so young. I want to have a long life ahead of me. I want to enjoy the sun and sniff the air and eat the grass and be naughty! Just the simple joys of life. If you can - please donate. Hey there! On Thursday 16th of July Akira stopped eating and started to act very lethargic and weak. I took him to the vet for a health check. Nothing serious was suspected at first. A few days later, unfortunately, his symptoms got progressively worse, I took him to the vet again and they recommended we rush to the emergency vet. There, they took a lot of different tests, did ultrasound to try and figure out why he was so sick. He was in the emergency care for around 4-5 days (longest days of my life). They were able to diagnose wet form of FIP by 21st of July. 
Emergency vet bills can get a little painful considering current covid situation and my finances I’ll be honest are not that great right now.
I live on my own and Akira has been my number one support during these terrible times. I’m struggling with mental health and he is my little guardian angel who helps me get through difficult times especially during lockdown.
FIP treatment is very expensive and without it, sadly, Akira will die. Cats do not suvive FIP without treatment. The treatment is 1200AUD per fortnight. We are already 2 weeks into the treatment and we hope there are kind souls out there who can help me save Akira's life.
