Summer Academy

Dear family, friends, and community,
We are calling on our amazing support group again to help out with the Summer Academy. This summer, four other educators and myself are organizing and running the fourth year of the Summer Academy.
There are 17 students that will be attending the Academy three days a week for four weeks, starting July 7th and running through July 30th.
All of these students are on free and reduced lunch (low income) and are ELL (English is not their first language). In fact, all are from the same low-income apartments in Shoreline. This program is completely free of charge for the families and all the teachers are volunteering their time.
We are dedicating our academic time to reading and writing; spending Tuesdays at the library, traveling on Wednesday for fieldtrips, and Thursdays dedicated to writing about thier fieldtrips. Each day the kids are also provided with a snack and lunch.
Our Summer Academy has already received some of the required financial support. We have our learning space donated by Campbell and Nelson Car dealership, next door to their apartments and a few fieldtrip opportunities donated as well. We feel truly supported.
We are still in need of donations for field trips & academic supplies and would love your support. If this speaks to you, any donation would be SO appreciated. If you are able to donate your time for instruction or on field trip days that would be wonderful, please just let us know and wewill send you a calendar with dates and times.
