Makayla "Fern's" pain clinic fund

Donation protected
Hello, all!
It all began in April, 2015... Makayla ( now going by Fern) went to Mt. Hood and got snow in her boot that resulted in minor frostbite and bacteria entering her body , Fern woke up in the middle of the night with black lesions on her foot and leg. That prompted a visit to the ER and a long road of various doctors and specialists trying to identify what was going on. After a year, or so, she was finally diagnosed with CRPS- Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome. Her lesions eventually healed but she is left with permanent nerve damage and chronic pain in her left leg and foot. As a result of this she has struggled with depression and feeling helpless about her future. The inability to carry on with physical activities that she once enjoyed like Irish dance and swimming only adds to the frustration. Flare ups debilitate her keep her from being the active young woman she is. The past two years of physical therapy, pain clinics up at OHSU, countless medications, counseling and a custom made brace all have not provided results. It seems it has gotten worse! Her team of doctors have suggested she attend a pain clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. It is an intense 3 week treatment that involves rigorous physical therapy, psychology and support from others who are dealing with similar chronic pain. Her doctor's feel like this her best chance of helping her learn to live with this and learn coping skills to deal with some of the pain. We know she has a bright future and we are doing our best to support her in every way. Our family was dealt another blow when Ferns dad learned he has stage 4 colon cancer. He is currently undergoing treatment and is a big part of her life. Our only obstacle to get her there is the financial portion;  gas, lodging, food and the insurance deductible. Any and all support is hugely appreciated!
