Service Trip to Ghana: Dana Feit & Elizabeth Plumley

We are two college students trying to fund a return trip to the village of Akaa in the Eastern region of Ghana. We work with a 501(c)3 non-profit called The Akaa Project (http://www.theakaaproject.org) which provides education opportunities, financial initiatives, and healthcare services and education to the people of the remote village of Akaa. The village of Akaa is a remote village in the Eastern region of Ghana, about two hours away from the main city of Accra. The village is without electricity or running water, and is a farming community without many resources. After our last trip (that was funded by our school), we created strong and life-changing relationships with many of the children and adults in the village. We were inspired by The Akaa Project\'s mission and wish to return to Ghana to continue working alongside the Project volunteers.
Specifically on this trip, we want to incorporate a new healthcare education plan with women in the village so they can provide sustainable first-aid practices to the villagers. We will also be teaching classes in the school, de-worming the children, and continuing other micro-finance initiatives started by The Akaa Project. It would be absolutely heartbreaking to have the cost of airfare be a barrier to our return to the village. One trip was not enough to accomplish all of our personal and project goals in the village, and as college students, funding the trip on our own is proving to be very difficult due to expensive airfare. Any amount donated will go directly to two airplane tickets to return us to this unique experience.
