PT: Hoje aconteceu algo que me marcou profundamente. Entrei numa loja de animais e deparei-me com um suricata, fechado numa gaiola. Para mim, foi impossível não sentir o peso da crueldade de ver um animal selvagem, que devia estar livre no seu habitat, preso e à venda como se fosse um objeto.

Quando me aproximei, ele fazia pequenos sons, como se chorasse, e raspava na gaiola. Agarrou o meu dedo com as suas patinhas e naquele instante senti que ele estava a pedir ajuda. Fiquei sem chão.

O preço para tirá-lo dali é 950€. Eu não tinha qualquer intenção de ter um animal — nunca pensei nisso nem sabia que era sequer possível ter um suricata. Não quero “possuí-lo” para mim, só quero retirá-lo daquele sítio e dar-lhe, pelo menos, uma vida com mais liberdade, carinho e dignidade.

Sei que não consigo isto sozinho. Por isso peço ajuda: qualquer contribuição, mesmo pequena, pode fazer a diferença para mudar o destino deste animal.

EN: Today something happened that deeply touched me. I walked into a pet shop and came across a meerkat, locked inside a cage. For me, it was impossible not to feel the cruelty of seeing a wild animal, who should be free in its natural habitat, trapped and being sold as if it were an object.

When I got closer, he made small sounds, almost like cries, and scratched at the cage. He grabbed my finger with his tiny paws and, in that moment, I felt like he was asking for help. It broke my heart.

The price to take him out of there is 950€. I never had any intention of owning an exotic animal — it was never something I wanted, and I didn’t even know it was possible to have a meerkat. I don’t want to “possess” him; I just want to get him out of that place and give him, at the very least, a life with more freedom, care, and dignity.

I know I can’t do this alone. That’s why I’m asking for help: any contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in changing this animal’s future.
