Right now, I’m homeless and waiting for a disability determination from Social Security. The process has been a long one—I’ve been waiting for nearly two years now. In that time, I’ve lost just about everything: my home, my car, and what feels like my entire sense of stability and security.

<div>The cause of all this is a car accident. I was struck by someone texting while driving, and it left me with a severely damaged spine. The injury has left me with physical limitations that make it nearly impossible to work in a traditional job. Despite this, I’ve been fighting for the support I need from Social Security, but the waiting game is long and grueling. Every day feels like an uphill battle just to survive.
