Stephanie's Medical Fund

Stephanie Borreggine, a Delaware resident and mother of two young teenagers, ran into complications one morning when she awoke to distortion of her sight, noise, and double vision in her right eye, while also suffering from excruciating headaches and nausea. Following multiple doctor visits and MRIs, it was determined that she had developed a mass behind her eye which pressed on her optic nerve, resulting in her present condition.

This condition is called a Papilledema. It was initially believed to have been caused by increased pressure in the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF), which caused the fluid to push its way behind her eye where it congealed to form a solid mass. There is a possibility of her sight being restored upon treatment with medication, or surgery to remove the mass. Treatment may be complicated as pre-existing conditions may dictate the route of treatment, as well as increase the cost of the treatments. The MRIs, however, do not show CSF as it is a clear fluid so more doctor visits were required.

In an effort to confirm the cause of the papilledema as well as to relieve the pressure behind her eye, she underwent a lumbar puncture. During this procedure, the doctor removed over 20 milliliters of excess cerebral spinal fluid from her back, it was a painful procedure and she has been in pain ever since. Since the procedure, Stephanie has noticed slight, positive, changes to her sight. Stephanie hopes to return to work in just a few days, should the migraines, nausea and back pain subside. She is unable to make her mortgage or pay for food for her family. Therefore, it is with the utmost urgency that we have begun this GoFundMe campaign to mitigate some of the financial stress that this emergency has brought.
