*AJ’s Journey - The Next Chapter*
AJ is an almost 3 year old little boy who was born with an incurable heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). During the first year of his life he encountered many complications from the cardiac surgeries that were needed to give him a chance at life. After 353 days inpatient, 4 open heart surgeries and 4 non-heart related surgeries, AJ made it home for the first time! He has made tremendous progress but unfortunately his heart is beginning to fail. Due to everything his body endured during his first year of life, his body can not sustain another cardiac surgery or a heart transplant.
Though AJ’s surgery chapter has ended, he now begins a new chapter in his journey - the live everyday to the fullest chapter. He is now going home on hospice to live what time he has left to the fullest. His parents want him to be able to truly live life for the first time in his life! This means that they want him to see and do things every toddler should be able to do. His family is not wanting anything extravagant but things we commonly take for granted. We are hoping to raise enough money to send AJ and his family on the road so AJ can go to the zoo, the aquarium, the Black Dragon Pirate Boat in South Padre, and wherever else they know he would enjoy.
Since AJ has so many medical necessities that must accompany him on this wonderful road trip, they also need a 4x6 or 5x8 pull behind trailer to bring all of his medical supplies with them! If you know anyone that has this kind of trailer and wouldn’t mind them borrowing it, please let us know!
We have made it super easy for anyone to donate whatever is put on their heart by providing multiple ways to give. Any amount is truly appreciated along with prayers for safe travels and health!!
