Aisling Duggan Memorial Fund

On the 8th of January last our darling daughter Aisling passed away suddenly.
Our understanding at this stage is that Aisling died from acute viral myocarditis, an extremely rare disease in which a virus attacks the heart muscle and stops the heart from beating. Unfortunately there is no treatment or cure for this disease and our poor Aisling had no chance of survival.
Aisling was our eldest child. She was just 5 years old, a healthy and happy little girl, a whirlwind of immense energy in our home and an idol and loving older sister to Clodagh and Cathal.
In September she started school in Carrick National School in Ballinlough. To say she loved it is an understatement and she was eagerly looking forward to her 2nd term. Sadly, for all her enthusiasm she would only ever complete one school term but the image of the happiness she beamed while going to school will be forever in our memory.
A very serious safety issue currently exists at Aisling's school in relation to the dropping off and picking up of pupils due to the absence of any parking facilities. The school is located on a busy national road. To address this a committee was set up last autumn. Aisling was aware that I (John) was on the committee. She understood the importance of it and was excited and proud of my involvement.
We have set up a fund in Aisling's memory and it is our wish to have the funds directed specifically towards the development of a car park at her school.
We are asking for your help to contribute what you are able to and to spread the word by whatever means you can. We would like to thank you in advance and pass on on our appreciation for your contributions big or small.
As her heartbroken parents it would give us some solace to know that Aisling contributed to her school becoming a safer place for pupils, parents and staff alike.
