Airabella's Smile

Donation protected

This is Airabella. She is 7 years old and sweet as can be. She has what is called Hyperdontia.  Hyperdontia is an oral condition where you have an excess number of teeth.  The additional teeth are referred to as supernumerary teeth.

Airabella's supernumerary tooth is a permanent, anterior incisor, in the maxillary arch. For those of us not well versed in dental terminology, this means she has an extra tooth growing out of the roof of her mouth, behind her top two front teeth.

Because of the many complications supernumerary teeth can cause, extraction is the only recommended treatment. It is important to do so as soon as possible since the additional tooth presents both cosmetic and functional problems for Airabella.  If retained, the tooth can also lead to development of cysts or tumors.

The current course of action is for the Doctor to provide Airabella with the appropriate level of sedation, create and incision in her guns above the tooth's location, break the tooth into pieces and remove it, then close the incision after the extraction is complete.

Any donated funds will go towards the exam, x-rays, anesthesia, extraction, and pharmaceutical costs. The dental office estimated it to be anywhere between $450 and $600, possibly more if they need to cut through bone during extraction.
