Melissa Leeder(Jackson) Cancer Treatment

In January 2007, my sister in law, Melissa Leeder (Jackson) was diagnosed with bowel cancer and at the age of 26 underwent major surgery to remove her bowel. Melissa has since undergone three major operations to remove secondary bowel cancer from her lungs and one of her adrenal glands. Melissa has also undergone a number of rounds of chemotherapy treatment, undertaken natural and alternative therapies and has adopted a strict holistic health and wellbeing lifestyle.
Melissa has recently been diagnosed with further secondary cancer in her lungs, as well as in her liver. She has been advised that further surgery is not an option and other treatments available in Australia will not kill the cancer or prevent its further growth and spread. Whilst this prognosis is devastating for Melissa and her family, there is still hope that the cancer can be beaten.
Doctors have advised Melissa of a new treatment that has produced impressive results, including the remission of patients who were suffering from end stage terminal cancers. Unfortunately, this treatment is only available in two locations worldwide, one in Germany and one in the People's Republic of China, and is very expensive. The treatment is undertaken over a period of at least two months and will require Melissa, her husband and their four year old daughter to temporarily relocate from their home in Melbourne to one of these locations, most likely China.
Depending on the duration and level of treatment required, it is estimated that Melissa and her family with incur costs of between $60,000 and $100,000.
It is for this reason that I am seeking your urgent help in securing funds that will allow Melissa to undergo this treatment, without additional financial burden being placed on her and her family. I plead with you to consider making a financial contribution towards the cost of Melissa's treatment and / or sharing this plea with family and friends via social media.
Melissa is a beautiful, caring, strong woman who has such a wonderful impact on the lives of all those who know her. The absence of her in our lives is not something we wish to contemplate.
