Viv's Breast Cancer Battle

Ok guys so here is an update......our original plan was to try and purchase the cold caps or dignicap machine.  We were under the impression we could buy cold caps for $2k each however, we have since found out that we can't actually purchase these, we can only hire them.  Secondly, we could purchase a dignicap machine but it was $40k (which is why our goal amount kept changing) but it would literally take months to convince a hospital board, train staff, have the machine tagged and tested and in the hospital ready for public use. So due to time restraints this now was no longer an option.  So - back to cold caps we go.  We contacted the NZ representative for these and were informed that we were fortunate enough to hire some and that were some were available (as these are in HIGH demand) so we got our forms in ASAP to hold them and finally we felt we were on our way to making this happen!

Then V, had her oncologist appointment and was delivered the news that her type of cancer would not be responsive to the use of cold caps - which was another blow to V, however she was determined to see if they would work - so after speaking with cold caps they are positive that these indeed will work but due to the strength of the chemo, V may have some thinning of her hair.  V is willing to accept that this may not work, but wants to give it her everything to try.  Where there is a glimmer of hope I think you have to try these things.

So V will start chemo very soon - and will have her little army of cold cappers ready to help her through this journey. x

All money raised here will be put towards the hire of this equipment and medical bills.  We appreciate your donations and for all your kind words and messages.  V is overwhelmed with everyones support xx

Thank you and take care. Jac x

This was our original plan of attack...

Our friend V needs our help, she has recently been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and has literally just received news that she needs to undergo chemotherapy and have a mastectomy within the coming weeks. We would LOVE to raise money to help provide the $20k required (or as much as possible) to contribute to COLD CAPS or DIGNICAP machine. These help prevent and reduce the risk of hair loss as a result of the chemotherapy.V has no idea we have this planned for her, however, she has spoken to us regarding the fact that if she can afford to get them, she would be more than willing to lend these out to as many people possible when she has completed her treament in order to help others - this is just a clear indication of the type of person V is.

This will allow V and many others to help make them feel more like themselves throughout the treatment - it really is all about making what is a really tough time that little bit easier, and gives each patient a chance to feel somewhat like themselves and not just a cancer patient.
